The arrangement suited David but he soon started to feel lonely; On the third day he went to meet Steerforth at Highgate. His friend was away. After a couple of days Steerforth called him. David asked him to dine along with his friends Grainger and Markleham. They had a good time at the dinner and David got tipsy after having drunk too much. In this drunken state he visited a theatre along with others. He happened to meet Agnes there, who was ashamed of his rowdy behavior and asked him to go back home.
