In the play at the beginning Dr Faustus is found sitting in his room and speaking to himself after thinking so much on the possibilities on acquiring knowledge in various subjects, he decides about indulging in the practice of necromancy. He does this because Dr Faustus aspires to evergreen honour and fame to acquire limitless power and after a prolonged deliberation Dr Faustus finally makes up his mind to study necromancy or the black art of magic.
When Faustus is left alone the Bed Anglo encourages him to carry on his studies in black magic. His two friends Valdes and Cornelius also inspired Dr Faustus to practice necromancy. And finally the biggest influence comes from the devil Mephistopheles who encourages him immensely in the field of black magic.
In Christianity it is believed that there are are seven deadly sins very harmful for a human being. According to Christianity the greatest sins of man lies in his "Aspiring Pride" to be almost a God by himself by reflecting the real virtue of an ideal Christian. Those sinful souls shall must there punishment by the trail of the Almighty. Dr Faustus committed this very harmful sin by surrounding his soul to the devil in order to gain power renouncing Christianity. Dr Faustus never care for true and ideal values of Christianity instead he thought himself to be a second God who can easily overpower his human limitation.
Thus Dr Faustus become a victim to his own dark impulses, committing various sinful act. With his pride, ambition, lust for power and thirst for black deeds committed one sin after the other. And finally as a punishment his soul is also taken to hell to be punished and damned eternally without any hope for outstrips.
